In my practice I am interested in therapy-language and when I made this piece in 2019 I was exploring the notion of ‘holding’ or ‘containment’. ‘Bookend’ is part of a series of wooden sculptures made from the negative spaces created by my arms and hands encircling empty space.

I would love to see this object made really big with people climbing all over it.
